Mike gets on the bus and asks the driver, “How far is it from Cork to Dublin?”

The driver says, “About three hours.”

“Thank you,” says Mike, and a little later, Mike says, “How far is it from Dublin to Cork?”

The driver says, “It’s about the same three hours!” Fed up, the driver adds, “Listen, why do you want to know?”

“Well,” says Mike, “I was just thinking it’s a lot shorter between Christmas and New Year’s, then New Year’s to Christmas! What do you think?”
